Cheddar Bay Drop Biscuits- Red Lobster Copycat

November 18, 2019Brianna

Fun fact about me—Sometimes in high school I’d crave Red Lobster only because I wanted their Cheddar Bay Biscuits they give as a free starter when you eat there so I’d call them and order just biscuits to pick up. I did this probably 4-5 times in high school and one time the nice hostess gave them to me for free. I really love these biscuits. They whip up so fast and can be thrown together to make a meal complete way faster than any other bread or biscuit. They hit the spot when I can’t eat a real biscuit from Red Lobster.

Cheddar Bay Drop Biscuits- Red Lobster Copycat

The easiest and fastest biscuit to add to any meal.

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 13 minutes
  • Total Time: 23 minutes
  • Yield: 12 biscuits 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Biscuits-

2 cups flour

2 teaspoons sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 tsp garlic powder

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 ½ cup, about 6 oz, sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup cold buttermilk

½ cup butter, melted and cooled for 510 minutes

Topping-

3 Tablespoons butter

1 tsp garlic salt

½ teaspoon parsley flakes

Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 425 F.

In a mixing bowl combine well the flour, sugar, baking powder and soda, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Add the cheese and mix again.

In a separate bowl pour the buttermilk. Drizzle in the melted butter while stirring and continue stirring till small beads of butter form. Pour the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture and stir till a few dry streaks remain. Do not over mix.

Spoon dough into 12 equal portions onto parchment paper lined baking sheet. No need to make the dough into balls or make them super smooth. Simply spooning them onto the baking sheet in somewhat of round form is enough. Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden brown.

Topping-

While biscuits are baking, melt the butter and mix in the garlic salt and parsley flakes. Generously brush onto biscuits as soon as they come out of the oven.

Notes

These biscuits are best the day they are made. If you won’t be eating all of them the day you make them you can freeze them for later use or put them in the fridge to save for a few days. To re-heat simply place in microwave for about 10 seconds if coming from the fridge or about 25 seconds if coming from the freezer.
