Easy to make teriyaki sauce that takes 10 minutes or less to make and is great as a marinade, over rice, or in many other dishes.
3 tablespoons honey
2/3 cup soy sauce (if using low sodium soy sauce, you may want to add a bit of salt)
1 ¼ cup water
½ cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger powder
1 clove garlic, minced
3 ½ tablespoons corn starch + 1/3 cup water
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
In a small or medium sauce pan, combine the honey, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, ginger powder and minced garlic. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, whisking frequently.
In a small bowl, combine the corn starch and water till mixed.
Pour the cornstarch mixture into the sauce pan and whisk till it thickens. Remove from heat and add sesame seeds. Serve over rice, veggies, and chicken.
If you’re using some of this sauce to put on your chicken before cooking then make a full recipe, if you’re using cooked chicken from a rotisserie chicken, or cooking chicken without the sauce, I’d recommend halving the recipe.
