Browned Butter & Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats
Does anyone else feel like there’s some secret ingredient in the store-bought brand name Rice Krispie treats that make them highly addicting and with a taste you can’t copy no matter what? Because of this, I typically don’t make a normal Rice Krispie Treat because they don’t taste as good. However, I really love fun flavored Rice Krispie treats made at home. Browned butter is a game changer when making them and I love the combo of peanut butter and chocolate so these browned butter & peanut butter Rice Krispie treats are probably some of my favorites.

The nuttiness of brown butter combined with creamy peanut butter gives this Rice Krispie treat a perfect taste. Add chocolate on top and this super-fast dessert becomes fancier.
Ingredients
¼ cup peanut butter
16 oz package of mini or normal sized marshmallows
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 cups of Rice Krispie’s cereal
½ cup chocolate chips (3oz), melted
Instructions
Spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray and set aside.
In a large pot, melt butter and cook the butter over medium heat till the butter browns, about 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
Once there are brown solids in the butter, reduce heat to low add the peanut butter and the marshmallows. Stir very frequently till the marshmallows are melted and the consistency is nice and smooth.
Pour in the cereal and stir till combined.
Pour mixture into 9×13 pan and press and make even throughout pan. Wait till Rice Krispie treats cool and then drizzle with the melted chocolate. Wait for the chocolate to set up before eating.
Notes
I melt my chocolate chips in the microwave at 50 % power, stirring every 30 seconds.
