Butter Burgers

Summer is upon us and Backyard BBQ season is in full swing! (I mean, if you’re lucky enough to have a backyard!) I’ve been saving this recipe till I could take a picture of this butter burger that’s worthy of how delicious it is! I typically don’t make the words before the recipe very long but I have a few tips for you for this recipe and ultimately how to make a killer burger.

First, don’t use extra lean ground beef. The best burgers are ones where there’s 17-20% fat in the beef. I know it sounds kinda gross, but the reason why a lot of people’s home-grilled burgers lack flavor or are dry and ultimately not as good as from a restaurant is because their beef is too lean.

Second, add water to your meat mixture. I also know this sounds weird but I read it on Paula Deen’s website once and was intrigued so I tried it and I’m never going back. Again, this helps your burgers not end up dry and also gives you a bit of cushion in not over-cooking your burgers.

Third, add butter. Again, sounds weird, but when was the last time you added butter to something and it didn’t taste good? Butter is probably in the top 3 foods as to why I can never be a vegan. But let’s be honest, there’s a whole lot more than 3 foods on that list. *see pictures below recipe card for how to put butter in your burger*

Fourth, put this sauce on it. You’re going to thank me.

Fifth, lightly butter your hamburger buns and either grill them for a minute or so, or put them on a griddle/skillet to toast them. No restaurant ever serves a hamburger bun straight out of the plastic bag and neither should you. This is seriously such an easy way to up your burger game and is totally worth the very little extra effort it takes.

A perfect burger recipe with all the tips and tricks to make your home BBQ’d burgers totally restaurant quality.

• Prep Time: 15 minutes
• Cook Time: 10 minutes
• Total Time: 25 minutes
• Yield: 5-6 patties 1x

Ingredients

Scale 1x2x3x

2 pounds of ground beef (17-20% fat)

2 teaspoons seasoning salt

¼ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp onion powder

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

¼ cup room temp water

About 3–4 Tablespoons of butter

Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients except the butter till mixed. Form into patties about 1/2-3/4 inch and a bit larger than the bun you are using for them. Once all patties are formed, with your fingers, scoop about a tablespoon of meat out from the center of all the patties. Make sure there’s still a layer of meat at the bottom of the middle of the patties and that you haven’t made the patties into doughnuts. Put a chunk of butter about ½ a tablespoon in size in the hole you created. Replace the removed piece of meat and press around the butter to form a whole patty again. Refrigerate until ready to cook.

 

Cook on a grill or in a skillet till desired doneness.

Notes

Depending on the size of your patties this makes about 5-6 burgers.

These also will freeze well. Make the patties and put a layer of parchment paper in between the patties and place in a freezer bag.

Step up your final product by thinly spreading butter on your buns and lightly toasting them in a skillet or on your grill.

Add a fried egg and bacon to make it even more restaurant quality!
